"Judge Kavanaugh is a fine choice to fill Justice Kennedy's seat on the Supreme Court. Judge Kavanaugh is a brilliant legal mind, and is well suited to follow in the footsteps of Justice Kennedy, for whom he previously clerked. As Judge Kavanaugh was previously confirmed by a bipartisan Senate vote, I hope the Senate will again confirm him without delay."

WASHINGTON, DC: Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) is pleased to announce that the U.S. Military Service Academies nomination application is now available for students wishing to join the class of 2023. Congressman Harris will nominate some of the finest students from Maryland's First Congressional District for appointments to the U.S. Military, Naval, Air Force, and Merchant Marine Academies. The Coast Guard Academy does not require a Congressional nomination, though Congressman Harris will recommend interested applicants on a case-by-case basis.

WASHINGTON, DC: On June 28, Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) sent a letter to Baltimore County Executive Don Mohler concerning the County Executive's position on illegal immigration and border security. Congressman Harris sent this letter after County Executive Mohler wrote to the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, expressing disdain for the Trump administration's immigration policies. Congressman Harris made the following statement regarding the letter:

WASHINGTON, DC: On June 26, Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) sent a bipartisan letter, signed by 82 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, to Secretary of Homeland Security Kristjen Nielsen in support of the H-2B visa program. The letter urges the Department of Homeland Security to issue additional H-2B nonimmigrant temporary workers visas, in response to historically high demand for H-2B visas this year. These visas are used by seasonal industries, including the Eastern Shore's seafood processing industry, when businesses are unable to find American workers.

WASHINGTON, DC: On June 26, the United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA) in the case NIFLA v. Becerra. The Court ruled that the State of California cannot compel private pro-life pregnancy centers to advertise abortion services. Congressmen Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) and Doug LaMalfa (CA-01) submitted an amicus brief to the Supreme Court in this case, and released the following statements lauding the Supreme Court's decision:

WASHINGTON, DC: On June 26, the United States Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in favor of President Trump in the case Trump v. Hawaii. The ruling maintains that President Trump acted lawfully in his executive order to restrict travel from nations that have failed to meet enhanced visa security requirements. WASHINGTON, DC: On June 22, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 6, the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act. This package of bipartisan bills includes Medicaid, Medicare, and public health reforms to combat the opioid crisis. WASHINGTON, DC: On June 20, the House Committee on Appropriations passed the FY19 State and Foreign Operations Appropriations bill. Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) authored, and the committee approved, language regarding international child abduction cases. The language urges the State Department to take all appropriate actions to secure the return of abducted American children, and requires the Secretary of State to submit an annual report of countries with pending cases that are more than 12 months old.
