Congressman Harris Announces $20 Million Infrastructure Grant for New I-95 Interchange in Cecil County

December 6, 2018

WASHINGTON, DC: The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded a $20 million grant to Cecil County. The Better Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant provides funding for a new interchange at I-95/Belvidere Road, and for the relocation of Belvidere Road and construction of a new bridge over I-95. In July 2018, Congressman Harris led a letter from members of Maryland's Congressional Delegation to Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao expressing support for this important project.

Congressman Harris made the following statement applauding the BUILD grant:

"This BUILD grant in Cecil County is important to the ongoing economic development in the Principio Enterprise Zone and will positively impact Cecil County as well as the First District. The construction of the I-95 interchange will continue to attract and retain innovative and thriving local employers. Because of the strategic location of Cecil County within the Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C. and New York City corridor, the I-95/Belvidere interchange will further stimulate economic growth in this area, with new and existing businesses estimated to create 7,500 jobs. The decision to award Cecil County with this grant shows the tremendous leadership of President Trump and Secretary Chao and their ongoing commitment to improving our infrastructure and our economy."
