WASHINGTON, DC: On Wednesday, September 4th, the Trump Administration announced the release of over $1.8 billion in funding to states to continue efforts to fight the opioid epidemic in their communities. Over $900 million will be awarded from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to states and localities for improvement in overdose data collection and real-time tracking. From these funds, the Maryland Department of Public Health has been awarded $7.2 million. Additionally, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), a division of the U.S.

The following businesses and farmers received awards on the Eastern Shore of Maryland: Choptank Corner LLC, in Cambridge, James B. Quinn, in Kennedyville, Rice's Inc. in Salisbury, Smartech Electrical Inc, in Chestertown, Williamson Farms LLC, in Mardela Springs, and Wilson Farm, in East New Market.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced a $387,500 award to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). The funds were awarded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, an office under the Department of Health and Human Services. The funding will support Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry Research at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and help investigate biomarkers for prostate cancers.

The recipients are health care service centers in Maryland's First District. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded $108,302 to Choptank Community Health System, $56,000 to Three Lower Counties Community Services, and $35,611 to West Cecil Health Center under the Health Center Cluster Program.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded $167,000 to each of these health service centers.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Tuesday, August 6th, Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the start of dredging of the Ocean City Inlet. The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) was able to secure a USACE dredge vessel from their sister district, Wilmington, for dredging of the inlet. The vessel arrived today and will conduct five days' worth of dredging over the coming week starting tomorrow, August 7th.

Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced two Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awards: $173,578 for the Ocean City Municipal Airport, and $315,355 for the Cambridge-Dorchester Regional Airport. The awards will fund removal of tree obstructions from runway approach surfaces at each airport.
