Harris Announces Grants to Eastern Shore Firefighters
WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of federal grants to volunteer firefighter departments on the Eastern Shore. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded $169,809 to the Queenstown Volunteer Fire Company, $228,928 to the Denton Volunteer Fire Company, and $335,000 to the United Communities Volunteer Fire Department in Stevensville. The grant monies will be provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program and Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grants. The funds will be used to purchase equipment and to assist with recruitment and retention.

These brave men and women provide essential services to our communities and I support efforts to provide our local firefighters with federal funding.
