WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a $5,831,000 grant for the towns of Secretary and East New Market in Dorchester County and $1,278,000 for Talbot County. The grants were awarded through the Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development.

Rebuilding Together Kent County is a local affiliate of Rebuilding Together, the nation's largest volunteer home repair and rehabilitation organization. The program utilizes donated building materials and volunteer time to repair and rehabilitate the houses of low-income homeowners who are elderly, disabled and/or families with children.

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced over $1.3 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency grants to local fire departments in the First Congressional District. The grants were awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG) and the Staffing for Adequate Fire & Emergency Response Grant Program (SAFER).

SHORE UP! is a private, non-profit Community Action Partnership that has been serving the Eastern Shore for over 45 years. According to SHORE UP!, their main focus is to help people reach economic self-sufficiency. SHORE UP is an acronym for "Self-Help on Rural Economics and Urban Problems."
