The Moore Administration is encouraging Marylanders to reduce or eliminate meat consumption in favor of plant-based diets as part of a national campaign led by the Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM), an advocacy group that promotes eliminating meat from people’s diets through annual outreach campaigns.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) is pleased to announce that the 2026 Congressional Art Competition is now open for submissions.
The annual competition highlights the creativity of high school artists nationwide and is sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives. Students from Maryland’s First Congressional District are invited to participate. One winner from each district is selected to have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. Since the program began in 1982, more than 650,000 students have entered the competition.

The request was made under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, which authorizes federal emergency relief for fisheries affected by natural or economic disasters.
