Rep. Harris Issues Statement on Passage of Legislation to Refund Paycheck Protection Program
WASHINGTON, DC: On April 23, 2020, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 266, the Payroll Protection Program Increase and Health Care Enhancement Act. Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) issued the following statement on the bill's passage:
"Today, the House of Representatives passed the Payroll Protection Program Increase and Health Care Enhancement Act. This bill will add billions in much needed funding to the Paycheck Protection Program, which has successfully allowed small businesses in the First District and across the nation to stay open and keep employees on their payrolls during the Coronavirus pandemic. These funds will help local employers cover expenses and pay salaries until businesses are allowed to re-open., which I hope can be done soon on a regional basis. As a physician, I am also pleased that the bill provides additional funding for healthcare providers and expands testing capacity even further."
