WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a $1.1 million federal grant to the Salisbury-Ocean City: Wicomico Regional Airport. The grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation and will fund rehabilitation of the apron, taxiway and lighting. The airport supports more than 1600 local jobs.

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of federal grants to volunteer firefighter departments on the Eastern Shore. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded $169,809 to the Queenstown Volunteer Fire Company, $228,928 to the Denton Volunteer Fire Company, and $335,000 to the United Communities Volunteer Fire Department in Stevensville. The grant monies will be provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program and Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grants.

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a $64,655 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury. The award is a discretionary grant through the Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator Safety Training Grant Program. The goals of the grant program include expanding the number of commercial driver license (CDL) holders possessing enhanced operator safety training and to assist veterans and their spouses to receive training to transition to the commercial motor vehicle industry.

WASHINGTON, DC: On Wednesday, September 4th, the Trump Administration announced the release of over $1.8 billion in funding to states to continue efforts to fight the opioid epidemic in their communities. Over $900 million will be awarded from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to states and localities for improvement in overdose data collection and real-time tracking. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced a $387,500 award to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). The funds were awarded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, an office under the Department of Health and Human Services. The funding will support Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry Research at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and help investigate biomarkers for prostate cancers.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced awards to Choptank Community Health System, Inc., located in Denton, Three Lower Counties Community Services, Inc., located in Salisbury, and West Cecil Health Center, Inc, located in Conowingo. The recipients are health care service centers in Maryland's First District. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded $108,302 to Choptank Community Health System, $56,000 to Three Lower Counties Community Services, and $35,611 to West Cecil Health Center under the Health Center Cluster Program.
