The organization is dedicated to helping small businesses succeed by offering counseling, business development consulting, and assistance in acquiring financing.
WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) applauded the decision confirmed today by the Maryland Board of Elections to provide for an in-person polling location on Smith Island. On election night, after the polling station closes, ballots from Smith Island voters will be taken to the mainland for counting. Previously, in August, Congressman Harris wrote to state officials expressing his concern that Smith Island would not have an in-person polling location this coming November.

Currently, there will not be a polling place on the island on election day or for early voting. Governor Hogan has stated that Maryland will not hold a vote by mail-only election and that each citizen should have the right to vote in person.

Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a $125,000 federal grant from the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to the Crisfield Community Prevention Works Drug Free Coalition in Somerset County. Funding came from the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program, which is the nation's leading effort to mobilize communities to prevent and reduce substance abuse among youth.
WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a $1,305,919 federal grant from the Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to the Talbot County Council for a project at the Easton Airport, Newnam Field. Funding originated from the Airport Improvement Program (AIP), and can be used for improvements related to enhancing airport safety, capacity, security, and environmental concerns.

Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced that the Town of Oxford has been named a Class 7 community in the Community Rating System (CRS) administered by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). According to FEMA, "residents living in the Special Flood Hazard area in CRS Class 7 communities will receive a 15 percent discount on NFIP premiums. The greater the investment in reducing flood risk, the greater the insurance savings through the CRS program. As communities move between classes, they implement flood reduction measures and save more on insurance."
