Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced he has become an original co-sponsor of the Drug-Free Communities Pandemic Relief Act, which was introduced in the House of Representatives today. This bill would help support the Drug Free Communities (DFC) Support Program, which mobilizes and provides grants to community coalitions working to prevent and reduce youth substance and opioid use.
WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) successfully passed an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2021 Agriculture Appropriations bill that would provide $1 million in funding to pay for USDA mandated inspections of wild caught invasive species, including the blue catfish. The blue catfish is threatening the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem and is not native to the Bay.

Congressman Harris will nominate some of the finest students from Maryland's First Congressional District for appointments to the U.S. Military, Naval, Air Force, and Merchant Marine Academies. WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a more than $57 million federal contract to three military contractors across the country, including Hardwire, LLC, located in Pocomoke City. The contract will provide the Army with Small Arms Protective Inserts hard armor plates to support Foreign Military Sales requirements. Two other armor manufacturers, one in Florida and one in Kansas, were also selected to receive portions of the contract award. For Hardwire, work will be performed in Pocomoke City and is expected to be completed by 2025.
WASHINGTON – Congressman Andy Harris, M.D., as well as U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen (all-Maryland) announced the award of $515,449 for Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Maryland through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) COVID-19 Telehealth Program, which was established by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. This funding will be used for the purchase of a patient engagement telehealth platform.
