WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a $1,241,526 federal grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to the State of Maryland for flood mitigation projects in the City of Crisfield in Somerset County. Specifically, this grant will cover 90% of the projected costs to install 11 tide gates, fund culvert replacement, and install two pump stations. Backflow valves will prevent tidal water from flowing through storm drains and onto roads and structures, affording protection from normal, extreme, and hurricane tides.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin and Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (all Md.) applauded $1,436,701 in federal funds to support coastal infrastructure projects in Talbot County. The County will provide $1,437,959 in matching funds, bringing the project total to $2,874,660.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The GOP Doctors Caucus released the following statement after New York Governor Cuomo commented on Operation Warp Speed vaccine safety:

"Governor Cuomo seems so desperate to prevent any progress that may occur under this administration that he is willing to disparage the credibility and independence of the scientists and doctors who are working around the clock to save lives. His comments that it is ‘bad news' that the Pfizer vaccine is proving to be effective are both extremely sad and dangerous for the health of Americans.

Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of two $125,000 federal grants to Cecil County and Mosaic Community Solutions (Pocomoke City) for their drug free communities programs. The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy awarded the grants through the Drug-Free Communities Support Program. This program provides grants to community coalitions to strengthen the infrastructure among local partners to create and sustain a reduction in local youth substance use.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Andy Harris, M.D., andU.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen (all Md.) today announced $13,398,000 in funding to construct a new wastewater treatment plant in the Town of Chesapeake City in Cecil County. This plant will replace two existing treatment sites, and meet new nutrient removal requirements.

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of $102,700 in federal grants to three recipients on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Funds were awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Agency. Funds will be used to purchase a police vehicle, purchase and outfit a bookmobile to serve rural communities not served by a physical library, and to purchase furnishings and computers for a day care center.

Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) today applauded the approval of Maryland's spend plan for targeted monetary relief to members of the commercial fishing industry struggling due to COVID-19. In May, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) announced the allocation of more than $300 million in fisheries relief to states and federal territories via the CARES Act.

Specifically, Talkie Rural Broadband in Chestertown has been awarded $94,000 to fund the installation of fiber infrastructure to allow high-speed internet access for the Main Street vicinity in downtown Chestertown.
