Harris Announces Choptank Community Health Invited to Participate in Vaccination Program

March 12, 2021
Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC: Congressman Andy Harris, M.D., announced that Choptank Community Health in Denton has been selected by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to directly receive COVID-19 vaccine doses for distribution in the community.  Choptank Community Health is one of 700 health centers nationwide that has been selected to administer these additional vaccines to underserved, rural, low-income, or minority patient populations.  Currently, Choptank Community Health already administers a small number of COVID-19 vaccines, as part of an allotment from the State of Maryland.  Over the next few weeks, HRSA and the CDC will roll out the next phase of this vaccination program nationwide.

Congressman Harris issued the following statement:

“This is great news for the Mid-shore!  Our frontline healthcare workers are doing a tremendous job getting shots in arms, and these extra doses will go a long way in helping turn the corner on this pandemic and it’s crippling effects on our daily lives.”

Given the overall limited number of available vaccine doses, those interested are urged to first confirm if they qualify based on Maryland’s current Phase 1C status.  Choptank Community Health is working on plans for distribution of these additional doses.  More information will be released as plans are finalized.
