This bill heeds the calls of the medical research community to address the burdensome processes that currently hinder medical research on marijuana. This bipartisan bill removes barriers inhibiting medical marijuana research.

On Tuesday, the House Appropriations Committee adopted an amendment proposed by Harris for the Interior Appropriations bill for fiscal year 2018.
Harris' proposition would prohibit the use of federal funding for reviewing site assessments or construction and operations plans for wind turbines located less than 24 nautical miles from Maryland shorelines.

This amendment blocks the use of federal funds to conduct reviews of site assessment or construction and operation plans for wind turbines less than 24 nautical miles from the State of Maryland shoreline – the distance at which the turbines would not be visible from the shoreline and affecting the viewscape. This amendment prohibits the use of funds to implement or enforce the designation of any area of the Chesapeake Bay watershed as a "Critical Habitat" for the Atlantic Sturgeon. WASHINGTON, DC: On June 28, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1215, the Protecting Access to Care Act (PACA), by a 218-210 vote. This medical liability reform legislation will prevent lawsuit abuse by capping noneconomic damages and limiting contingency fees for attorneys. Congressman Andy Harris has co-sponsored a bill that would create a commission to celebrate the bicentennial of the birth of famed former slave and abolitionist Frederick Douglass.
In a statement issued by his office the Eastern Shore Republican called Douglass the father of the civil rights movement.
The measure to create the commission is co-sponsored by D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton.
Douglas was born in Talbot County in 1818 and escaped from slavery in 1838.
He later become a leader in the abolitionist movement as a speaker and writer.
