WASHINGTON, DC: On Wednesday, September 19, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded over $1 billion to target the opioid crisis around the country. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SMHSA), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will provide millions of dollars in the form of opioid response grants to combat the devastating crisis.
WASHINGTON, DC: On Monday, September 10, the American Farm Bureau Federation awarded Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) with the Friend of Farm Bureau award for the 115th Congress. The Congressman received the Friend of Farm Bureau Award three times previously during the 112th, 113th, and 114th Congressional Terms. This will be his fourth consecutive Congressional term receiving the award.

WASHINGTON, DC: On Thursday, September 13th, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 4913 to rename a United States Postal facility in honor of the deceased Sgt. Maj. Wardell B. Turner. Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) is the original author of H.R. 4913, which will designate the United States Postal facility located at 816 East Salisbury Parkway in Salisbury, Maryland, as the ‘‘Sgt. Maj. Wardell B. Turner Post Office Building''. Congressman Harris released the following statement lauding its passage:

On Wednesday, after a meeting with Department of Justice officials, 11 House Republicans filed articles of impeachment against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein
Maryland Rep. Andy Harris joined The C4 Show Thursday, saying he was not one of the co-sponsors, but agreed with the rationale.
"I'm not a co-sponsor of it but I agree with the idea that we have to get the Department of Justice to cooperate with the Congressional subpoenas and if this is what it takes then this is what it takes," Harris said.

The U.S. House of Representatives recently voted on the 2019 Interior Appropriations bill and amendments to that bill. This is the appropriations bill that contains critical funding for the Chesapeake Bay Program.
