WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Andy Harris (MD-01) announced an award of $514,336 to the Eastern Shore Area Health Education Center (AHEC), a facility in Cambridge whose focus is to improve health care coverage and services. The grant was awarded through the Healthy Kids 2019 program of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, a federal agency within the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Andy Harris (MD-01) announced an award of $9,805,843 to Shore Up! Inc., a facility in Salisbury whose focus is to help people reach personal economic independence. SHORE UP is an acronym which stands for: "Self-Help on Rural Economics and Urban Problems." The Administration for Children and Families/Office of Head Start allocate the funds to Shore Up! Inc. under the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The House of Representatives is considering a bill, H.R. 3401, that allegedly attempts to address the humanitarian crisis along the southern border of the United States. However, the bill fails to provide funds to the Department of Defense for assistance with border security or to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency for additional beds for detained immigrants, and limits the ability of the Department of Homeland Security to enforce immigration laws.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) sent a letter to the Federal Trade Commission regarding the harm attorney advertising causes patients when they are scared into discontinuing their medication. Rep. Harris has previously acquired data from the FDA documenting patient discontinuation of medication after viewing negative attorney advertising. It is clear that patients have ceased their prescribed pharmaceutical regimens after viewing a lawsuit advertisement and suffered serious injury, such as a stroke, and/or death.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of $5,980,000 in funds for the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. The funds were awarded by the U.S. Department of Interior through the Migratory Bird Conservation Fund, which is supported by revenue generated from the "Duck Stamp" program. The stamps are required for waterfowl hunters as an annual license, but are also voluntarily purchased by others who choose to help preserve wildlife habitats.

WASHINGTON, DC: Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced an award of $70,000 to the Maryland Coastal Bays Program from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Assistance Agreement. The EPA describes this program award as providing "funding for implementation of the EPA approved Maryland Coastal Bays Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP) under Section 320 of the Clean Water Act (CWA), which will help restore and maintain the water quality and ecological integrity of the Maryland Coastal Bays."
