These bills will improve public safety by combating dangerous sanctuary city policies and strengthening penalties for deported criminal immigrants who re-enter the United States.

WASHINGTON, DC: On June 28, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1215, the Protecting Access to Care Act (PACA), by a 218-210 vote. This medical liability reform legislation will prevent lawsuit abuse by capping noneconomic damages and limiting contingency fees for attorneys. WASHINGTON, DC: On June 21, Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) in conjunction with Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (DC-At large) introduced H.R. 2989, the Frederick Douglass Bicentennial Commission Act. This legislation will establish a commission to study and recommend to Congress activities that are fitting to commemorate the bicentennial anniversary of Frederick Douglass' birth.

WASHINGTON, DC: On June 15, President Trump rolled back the program known as Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA). The Obama-era program is an extension of another program, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), which allowed children brought into the United States illegally to remain in the country.
