WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a $39,784 federal grant to Rebuilding Together, located in Chestertown. The grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development.

Rebuilding Together Kent County is a local affiliate of Rebuilding Together, the nation's largest volunteer home repair and rehabilitation organization. The program utilizes donated building materials and volunteer time to repair and rehabilitate the houses of low-income homeowners who are elderly, disabled and/or families with children.

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced over $1.3 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency grants to local fire departments in the First Congressional District. The grants were awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG) and the Staffing for Adequate Fire & Emergency Response Grant Program (SAFER).

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced three upcoming local town halls, November 6 in Carroll County and November 7 in Kent County and Cecil County. The Town Halls are free, open to the public, and include an extensive question and answer session with the Congressman. Topics of discussion will cover a wide variety of issues of interest to constituents, including gun control proposals and 2nd Amendment Rights, health care, and impeachment proceedings.

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) released the following statement regarding the vote held today in the House of Representatives on H. Res. 660, to continue the hearings on the impeachment of President Trump.

Rep. Andy Harris made the following statement:

"I am certainly not voting to justify the continuation of Soviet-style secret hearings orchestrated behind closed doors to impeach the President. This is a sham – a fig leaf that fails to cover up an illegitimate hyper-partisan inquiry."

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a $79,784 federal grant to SHORE UP! Inc., located in Salisbury. The grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development.

SHORE UP! is a private, non-profit Community Action Partnership that has been serving the Eastern Shore for over 45 years. According to SHORE UP!, their main focus is to help people reach economic self-sufficiency. SHORE UP is an acronym for "Self-Help on Rural Economics and Urban Problems."

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) is a cosponsor of a resolution (H. Res. 630) to censure Rep. Adam Schiff, Chairman of the Select Committee on Intelligence. Chairman Schiff is pursuing an impeachment strategy and taking testimony in closed-door sessions that are not open to the public. Even Members of Congress not on the designated committees are barred from being present at the hearings or even reviewing the transcript or testimony of Committee proceedings.

Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of two federal grants for entrepreneurs on the Eastern Shore: A $40,530 grant to the Eastern Shore Entrepreneurship Center in Easton and a $96,039 grant to Maryland Capital Enterprises, Inc. in Salisbury. The grants were awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Office of Rural Development. The funds will be dispersed through the Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Program.

Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a $5,831,000 federal grant for the Twin Cities wastewater treatment plant, shared by the towns of Secretary and East New Market located in Dorchester County. The funds were awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Office of Rural Development. The grant will be accompanied by a loan of $1,149,000.
