WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) is leading an effort to urge the Administration to grant additional H-2B Visas. Rep. Harris organized a bipartisan letter signed by 151 Members of Congress and 38 Senators, requesting the release of 64,716 additional visas. These guest worker visas provide temporary, seasonal workers to employers who are unable to hire employees locally. The visas are utilized extensively by seafood processors and crab houses, among others, on the Eastern Shore.
WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced his support of the new "Waters of the U.S." (WOTUS) rule released today by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Under President Obama, the EPA had sought to change regulatory authority under the Clean Water Act to expand federal jurisdiction from navigable waters to include wetlands, farm watering ponds, and roadside and farm ditches that contain water only in response to rainfall.
WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a $500,000 federal grant to improve the protection of coastal communities and ecosystems associated with bays and estuaries, including the Chesapeake Bay. The funds were awarded by the National Science Foundation to the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Sciences in Cambridge, Dorchester County.
WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) applauded the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) announcement of grants to support local homeless assistance programs across the nation, including over $6 million in counties within Maryland's First Congressional District. HUD's Continuum of Care grants will provide critically needed support to local programs on the front lines serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a $125,000 grant to treat and prevent substance abuse in Worcester County. The grant is through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the funds will be administered by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention.
The $125,000 federal grant is to Mosaic Community Services, Inc., located in Pocomoke City, for the Berlin Prevention Works Coalition for Drugs and Alcohol-Free Communities.
WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) today voted in favor of President Trump's new trade agreement with Mexico and Canada.

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) today voted against impeaching the President of the United States. Only members of the Democrat Party voted in favor of impeaching President Trump to remove him from office, which passed the House of Representatives. The vote against impeachment was bipartisan. The issue next moves to the Senate for consideration, where a two-thirds majority vote is required for a conviction.

Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) responded to today's decision by the Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC) granting Ocean City's petition to reconsider the U.S. Wind and Skipjack offshore wind projects. The PSC will reconsider the use of Maryland taxpayer subsidies for the projects.
