Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of $18,368,304 in federal grants from the Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Improvement Program. Funding was provided by the recently enacted CARES Act, also known as the "Phase III" Congressional emergency legislation.
WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of $3,123,465 in federal grants from the Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Funding was provided by the recently enacted CARES Act, also known as the "Phase III" Congressional emergency legislation.
Specifically, three health centers serving the Eastern Shore have been awarded funding:
WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) joined a bipartisan, bicameral letter to Secretary Alex Azar of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) urging him to prioritize and take decisive action to assist rural hospitals responding to the Coronavirus. Under the CARES Act, which was signed into law on March 27th, HHS has been given additional funding to provide financial relief to hospitals, as well as flexibility to deliver assistance where needed most.

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a $2,369,022 federal grant from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of Head Start to the Maryland Rural Development Corporation in Greensboro. The HHS Office of Head Start promotes the school readiness of young children from low-income families by providing grant funding and oversight to agencies that provide Head Start services in the local community.

Funding was provided by the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2020, also known as the "Phase I" Congressional emergency legislation. HRSA-funded health centers may use the awards to address screening and testing needs, acquire medical supplies, and boost telehealth capacity in response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has declared seven counties on Maryland's Eastern Shore a disaster area, thereby making available financial resources for small businesses negatively affected by the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. The seven counties are: Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne's, Caroline, Dorchester, Wicomico, and Worcester.

WASHINGTON, DC: On March 5th, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced its intent to release 35,000 additional H-2B visas for the summer season of Fiscal Year 2020. Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) has spearheaded the effort in Congress to secure the timely release of supplemental visas. He sent a letter, signed by a total of 151 members of the House and 38 Senators, urging Acting Secretary Wolf to release, as quickly as possible, additional H-2B visas to meet seasonal labor demands.

Grants from Fiscal Year 2020 Senior Corps funds are used to engage Americans 55 years and older to commit their time to address critical community needs including academic tutoring and mentoring, elderly care, disaster relief support, and more.
