August 27, 2021

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) today joined Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC-05) in introducing an article of impeachment against Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. This action is in direct response to predictable, yet egregiously inexcusable failures of planning, execution, and leadership in Afghanistan that have led to the loss of American lives, endangered countless other American and allied lives, and set a horrible precedent on the international stage.

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced that Wor-Wic Community College on the Lower shore has been awarded a $64,804 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. Funds originated from the Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator Safety Training Grant Program, and specifically, these grants dollars will be used to recruit and enroll veterans and/or their family members in the college's Commercial Driver License program.

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a $300,000 Department of Labor (DOL), Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP) grant to St. James A.M.E. Zion Church - Zion House, located in Salisbury. According to the Labor Department, "HVRP grants are awarded on a competitive basis to state and local workforce investment boards, local public agencies and nonprofit organizations, tribal governments, faith-based and community organizations.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced an award to the American Legion Post No. 91 in Dorchester by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for $50,000. The funds were awarded under the Economic Impact Initiative Grants program of the Rural Development agency.

WASHINGTON, DC: President Trump signed H.R. 4913 to rename a United States Postal facility in honor of the deceased Sgt. Maj. Wardell B. Turner. Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) authored H.R. 4913, which designates the United States Postal facility located at 816 East Salisbury Parkway in Salisbury, Maryland, as the ‘‘Sgt. Maj. Wardell B. Turner Post Office Building."

Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01), a member of the Appropriations Committee, made the following statement lauding the bill's passage:

Easton, Md. - Thousands of lives who were lost during the Vietnam War were honored on Friday with the traveling Vietnam Memorial.

Those who made the ultimate sacrifice were honored with bag pipes, a wreath laying ceremony and more.

Local families that had loved ones pass in the war got special recognition.

"As our Vietnam Veterans are getting up in age it's quite appropriate now to remember those who never came back from the war and that's what we're doing here today in Easton," said U.S. Congressman Andy Harris.
