Local government's fight to keep wind turbines out of sight of vacationers in Ocean City picked up support this week from Rep. Andy Harris (R-1st).

On Tuesday, the House Appropriations Committee adopted an amendment proposed by Harris for the Interior Appropriations bill for fiscal year 2018.

A new measure took effect on Monday in the nation's capital, allowing doctors and pharmacies to provide terminally ill patients with life-ending medication. Washington, D.C.'s mayor signed the Death with Dignity Act last December, but the measure wasn't implemented until this week.

Congressman Andy Harris has co-sponsored a bill that would create a commission to celebrate the bicentennial of the birth of famed former slave and abolitionist Frederick Douglass.

In a statement issued by his office the Eastern Shore Republican called Douglass the father of the civil rights movement.

There was an early question from a constituent about the financial solvency of Social Security, another about the recent passage of a bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act, then a pointed query as to why the telephone town hall was a telephone town hall and not an in-person one.

On November 2, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi blasted FBI Director James Comey on CNN for his handling of the FBI's investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails. That same day, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told Bloomberg News that he no longer had confidence in Mr. Comey. Several Democratic lawmakers followed suit in criticizing the FBI Director.
