“Time for Action on Reconciliation: The Emergency Border Control Resolution”

February 10, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C.  Today, the House Freedom Caucus introduced the Emergency Border Control Resolution, a budget to begin the reconciliation process in the House and start delivering on the America First agenda.

The Emergency Border Control Resolution budget represents part one of a two-step reconciliation plan. As outlined in the HFC “218 Plan,” this budget resolution provides instruction for $200 billion in new funding for President Trump to rebuild America’s military, secure our southern border and end the Biden immigration crisis. This increased spending is paired with instructions to committees to slash $486 billion in failed Biden policies and wasteful spending, resulting in $286 billion in real deficit reduction over 10 years. Furthermore, it will raise the debt ceiling by $4 trillion to give stability to the financial markets and ensure Democrats cannot use it as leverage against President Trump.

This plan gives President Trump the urgent funding that he needs to secure the border and make America safe again, and we believe it can be done with 218 Republican votes in the House and is in-line with the plans put forward by Senate Republicans.

“President Trump was elected with a mandate to close the Southern Border, stop the flood of illegal aliens, begin repatriations of those here illegally, and restore accountability to our government,” said Chairman Andy Harris. “The House Freedom Caucus has always believed that Congress must rapidly give the President the funds he needs to do this. Given the current delay in the House on moving a comprehensive reconciliation bill, moving a smaller targeted bill now makes the most sense to deliver a win for the President and the American people. I am proud to introduce the Emergency Border Control Resolution today to set the reconciliation process in motion in the House.”
