Rep Harris Statement on House Action
October 1, 2013
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Washington, D.C. - Congressman Harris released the following statement on House action:
“While the House waits for the Senate and President to agree to start the negotiations necessary to end the partial shutdown, the House will continue to attempt to end the special treatment of big businesses and members of Congress and their staff under Obamacare. We will also act on a daily basis to deal with any issues that arise by restoring temporary funding to parts of the government that were inappropriately shut down by the President. Today we dealt with two such issues - restoring funding for the Veterans Administration handling of disability claims, and for re-opening of national parks such as the World War II Memorial. This continues the action we took last week, agreed to by the Senate and the President, to make certain that our troops receive their pay.”
