Rep. Harris Statement on the Budget Deal
WASHINGTON -- Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) made the following statement on the budget agreement to lift the spending caps adding $323 billion in new spending without sufficient offsets:
"The spending and budget 'deal' announced today is a very bad idea. It would increase spending over the next two years by almost a third of a trillion dollars without cutting any spending and just add it to the debt. We also raise the federal debt ceiling for two years by an unlimited amount.
We have to reject fiscally irresponsible proposals like this that just whistle past the graveyard and pass on debt to our children and grandchildren."
