Rep. Harris Comments on the Appointment of Special Counsel Mueller

May 18, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC: On May 17, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed former FBI Director and U.S. Attorney Robert S. Mueller III to serve as Special Counsel to oversee the FBI investigation into efforts by Russia to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) released the following statement in response to this appointment:

"Just as I agreed with Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein's assessment that Mr. Comey damaged the credibility of the FBI, I trust his judgment in appointing Mr. Mueller as Special Counsel to lead the investigation into potential interference by Russia in our 2016 election. Mr. Mueller is widely respected, and I am confident that he will conduct a thorough and nonpartisan investigation into this matter."
