Harris Statement on USDA Grant To Queen Anne’s County
WASHINGTON, DC: Today, Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (R-MD), Acting Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Agriculture Subcommittee announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) approved a $73,000 Rural Development grant for the implementation of the "Where Shore Living Begins" program adopted by Queen Anne's County in July 2021 and created byeconomic development director, Heather Tinelli. This grant money will specifically be used to encourage and assist 27 small businesses in the region through local investment.
Statement from Congressman Harris:
“With over 1,400 in Queen Anne’s County, small businesses are a central component to economic development, and I am pleased to see that the USDA is funding a local program that supports them. It is projected that the full implementation of this program will create 150 jobs in the region which is especially helpful at a time when inflation and supply chain issues challenge the growth of local businesses. I look forward to seeing this grant money put to good use.”
