Harris Statement on USDA Grant to Christiana Health Care Services in Cecil, Maryland.
WASHINGTON, DC: Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01), Acting Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Agriculture Subcommittee, is pleased to announce that the USDA issued a Rural Development grant in the amount of $584,800 to Christiana Health Care Services in Cecil, Maryland. ChristianaCare Union Hospital is a not-for-profit full-service hospital that serves the community by providing expert, effective, and affordable care to local residents. During the COVID-19 pandemic, ChristianaCare quickly bought additional resources including labor, lab equipment, equipment for vaccines, ventilators, and testing supplies that would enable them to quickly respond to the increased patient volume in its facility. This Rural Development grant will help to reimburse ChristianaCare for these initial costs as well as allow them to continue providing life-saving care to First District residents.
Congressman Harris issued the following the statement:
“I am pleased to see the USDA award this grant to one of our Upper Shore hospitals. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, ChristianaCare stepped up to meet the needs of our community. This grant will go a long way to backfill COVID-19 related expenses and will empower the hospital to continue to be fully equipped to meet patients’ needs.”
