Harris Secures Subsidy for Airports Affected by Temporary Flight Restrictions
WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) today secured legislative language in the House Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations bill which will offer direct reimbursement to airport owners, ground crews, and airport tenants who suffer economic hardship due to Secret Service-imposed temporary flight restrictions when President Biden is present at one of his Delaware residences. This has been done in the past with prior presidential administrations to alleviate the losses caused by restrictions or complete blockage on flying or operating within a certain radius of a president.
Congressman Harris issued the following statement:
"I have heard from numerous stakeholders regarding these routine temporary flight restrictions, and the extensive discussions with them and federal authorities have yielded positive results. Securing this funding for airports in both my district and others in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey will provide appropriate relief to the small businesses who may be negatively affected."
