Harris Announces Grant to Cecil County Department of Community Services

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced $107,774 in grant funding to the Cecil County Department of Community Services from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). Grants from Fiscal Year 2020 Senior Corps funds are used to engage Americans 55 years and older to commit their time to address critical community needs including academic tutoring and mentoring, elderly care, disaster relief support, and more.

Congressman Harris made the following statement:

"As a Member of the House Appropriations Committee, I applaud the award of this grant to our local community in Cecil County. These funds will be used to better engage seniors willing to volunteer their time to support critical initiatives such as fighting the opioid epidemic, connecting veterans to employment, and boosting civic engagement among young people."
