Dr. Harris Announces Medical Science Award to University of Maryland Eastern Shore
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced a $387,500 award to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). The funds were awarded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, an office under the Department of Health and Human Services. The funding will support Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry Research at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and help investigate biomarkers for prostate cancers.
Congressman Harris made the following statement:
“As a physician, I personally understand the importance of medical and scientific studies. These funds are an investment in the development of local students, as well as the long-term health of our families and communities on the Eastern Shore. I applaud the Administration for their award to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.”
