Congressman Harris Statement on Confirmation of Brooke Rollins as Agriculture Secretary

February 13, 2025

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Andy Harris, M.D, Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies, released the following statement after the Senate voted to confirm Brooke Rollins as the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Rollins graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in agricultural development and earned her J.D. from the University of Texas. Previously, she was President Trump’s domestic policy chief during his first term and most recently led the America First Policy Institute.

Statement From Chairman Harris:

“Congratulations to Brooke Rollins on her confirmation as Secretary of Agriculture. I am confident Secretary Rollins will be a strong voice in support of the American farmers and ranchers who have struggled under unnecessary and harmful Biden-era policies that did not put their needs first. As we head into the Appropriations process this year, I look forward to working with Secretary Rollins to strengthen agriculture through new innovations in food production, encourage the removal of non-nutritious food from the government-funded Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), eliminate harmful regulations impacting poultry growers, and protect rural farmland.”
