Congressman Harris Releases Statement on Attempts to Blame Maryland’s State Finances on President Trump
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Harris, M.D., released the following statement in response to attempts by the Democrat-controlled Maryland General Assembly and the Governor to pin the blame for their disastrous state finances on President Trump.
Statement From Congressman Harris:
“It’s absolutely absurd that the Democrat-controlled Maryland General Assembly and Governor are trying to pin the blame for their disastrous state finances on President Trump. This is classic Democrat misdirection—create a mess, then point fingers at anyone but themselves.
Back in November, impartial fiscal analysts warned the General Assembly about Maryland’s dire financial situation—a staggering $3 billion deficit just two years into the governor’s term. President Trump wasn’t inaugurated until January. So how exactly is he responsible for Maryland’s fiscal mismanagement?
The truth is, Democrats in Annapolis have spent recklessly, taxed aggressively, and now they’re scrambling for a scapegoat. Instead of taking responsibility for their failures, they’re trying to shift the blame onto someone who had nothing to do with their financial meltdown. Maryland taxpayers deserve better than this kind of political spin.”
