Congressman Harris Issues Statement On The Approval Of Offshore Wind In Maryland
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Andy Harris, M.D., Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies issued the following statement in response to the approval of offshore wind development in Maryland.
Today, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) announced its approval of the Construction and Operations Plan for the Maryland Offshore Wind project. This is the final approval needed for the project from BOEM following the Department of the Interior’s September 2024 Record of Decision.
Statement From Congressman Harris:
“Offshore wind farms benefit foreign companies - not the residents of Maryland’s First District who have already seen increases in their electric rates thanks to the failed energy policies of the Biden Administration. We should never allow foreign owned companies to control our energy supply—much less harm our marine life while doing it. I look forward to working with President Trump to end all offshore wind development when he is back in office.”
