Congressman Harris Announces Millions in Federal Aviation Administration Grants for Eastern Shore Airports
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced two Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grants to support safety and infrastructure upgrades at airports in Maryland’s First Congressional District.
Easton/Newnam Field will receive $8,713,751 to continue a multi-year project that expands the safety zone at the end of its main runway, improving safety for takeoffs and landings. Ocean City Municipal Airport will receive $7,969,413 to replace worn pavement on Taxiway A, which is the main taxiway connecting planes to the runway. This grant is the next step in a larger project to fully reconstruct the 3,850-foot taxiway.
Statement from Congressman Harris:
"These grants for Easton/Newnam Field and Ocean City Municipal Airport will create construction jobs and improve transportation for employers and constituents across the district. I applaud the FAA for their continued investment in our local airports."
