Congressman Andy Harris Receives Friend of Farm Bureau Award

September 18, 2018

WASHINGTON, DC: On Monday, September 10, the American Farm Bureau Federation awarded Congressman Andy Harris (MD-01) with the Friend of Farm Bureau award for the 115th Congress. The Congressman received the Friend of Farm Bureau Award three times previously during the 112th, 113th, and 114th Congressional Terms. This will be his fourth consecutive Congressional term receiving the award.

"The American Farm Bureau Federation gives the Friend of Farm Bureau award to members of Congress who have supported Farm Bureau's position on policy issues, as demonstrated by their voting records, and who were nominated by their respective state Farm Bureaus and approved by the AFBF Board of Directors. The voting records are based on issues selected by the AFBF Board," said Dale Moore, Vice President of Public Affairs.

Upon receiving the award, Rep. Harris made the following statement:

"The American Farm Bureau is an important voice for farmers and consumers across the nation's agricultural industry. I am honored to have been nominated for the award by the Maryland Farm Bureau. I have worked hard in Congress to protect our farmers in the first Congressional district by cutting down on burdensome regulations and bolstering federal programs such as the USDA 2018 Rural Business Development Grants. I will continue to work hard to ensure the American agricultural industry remains strong and vibrant, and I am honored to receive the Friend of Farm Bureau Award from the American Farm Bureau."
