Congressman Andy Harris Announces Title I Educational Funds for Counties in Maryland’s First Congressional District
WASHINGTON, DC: Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced Fiscal Year 2019 Title I Part A educational grant funds to various counties in Maryland's First District for the 2019-2020 school year. These grants are allocated under the following four statutory formulas: basic grants, concentration grants, targeted grants, and education finance incentive grants. The counties and grant fund amounts are as follows:
- Baltimore County Public Schools: $29,038,881
- Carroll County Public Schools: $2,152,303
- Cecil County Public Schools: $3,560,056
- Dorchester County Public Schools: $2,369,035
- Harford County Public Schools: $6,002,823
- Kent County Public Schools: $757,544
- Queen Anne's County Public Schools: $932,846
- Somerset County Public Schools: $1,953,323
- Talbot County Public Schools: $1,098,215
- Wicomico County Public Schools: $6,297,707
- Worcester County Public Schools: $1,879,760
Rep. Harris made the following statement:
"These funds will help improve the educational experience of children in Maryland's First District. As a member of the Education Appropriations Subcommittee, I believe our children deserve a first class education, and Title I grants can be an important part of providing that education."."
The awards are subject to final allocation in the fall.
