Rep. Harris Announces Award for Opioid Addiction and Mental Health Services in Maryland’s First District
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced an award to West Cecil Health Center, Inc. and Three Lower Counties Community Services, Inc., both of which are health care service centers in Maryland’s First District. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded $167,000 to each of these health service centers.
According to the HHS, these health services in the First District “successfully competed for the FY2019 Integrated Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) awards. These awards will help health centers increase access to high quality integrated mental health and substance abuse disorders services, including opioid use disorder.”
Congressman Harris made the following statement:
“As a physician, I am particularly concerned about the opioid crisis in the First District. We must help individuals struggling with opioid addiction and mental health disorders, as well as their families. These are important investments in the health and well-being of our local communities and I applaud the HHS for their awards to these health centers.”
